How to optimize dispensing processes
Mar 20, 2024 | Scheugenpflug
Effective and reliable dispensing is based primarily on process technology that has been perfectly set up for the specific project. Anyone tasked with planning dispensing systems and responsible for the processes should know the principles and key factors involved so that the dispensing processes can be successfully implemented in cooperation with system and material partners. This White Paper explains the relevant aspects of process technology and provides valuable practical tips....
Inline Quality Control and Position Detection in Dispensing Systems
Feb 06, 2024 | Scheugenpflug
Quality monitoring for verifiable, high-precision application of adhesives and sealants now begins with detecting the position of the component. Dispensing systems are in continuous use and have to work with 100 percent accuracy. And this level of accuracy must be verifiable. Demands on electronic components continue to escalate as these components also need to operate continuously and flawlessly, especially in the automotive and medical sectors. At the same time, there is increasing pressure to automate as companies are looking to achieve the shortest possible cycle times and maximum output....
High-precision dispensing technology: Potting technology for medical wearables
Jul 27, 2023 | Scheugenpflug
Diabetes affects many millions of people worldwide. New technology for real-time glucose measurement replaces the usual unpleasant pricking of a finger: a sensor located in the subcutaneous tissue of the diabetes patient measures the glucose values and transmits them to a receiver. Production of such medical wearables calls for high-precision dispensing systems for applying very small amounts of UV adhesives to medical PCBs and for integrated system concepts to achieve this. A perfect task for Scheugenpflug....
Potting-optimized component design
Feb 15, 2023 | Scheugenpflug
With regard to potting, the design of electronic assemblies and components has a significant impact on economical and sustainable production. Key aspects in this respect are pottability, material use, cycle times, quality and the process technology needed. Optimized, bubble-free potting contributes greatly to the function and longevity of products. It is best practice during the design and development phases therefore to follow the potting tips contained in this White Paper....
Dispensing Thermally Conductive Materials
Sep 29, 2022 | Scheugenpflug
Electronic vehicles, devices and components must not overheat, otherwise they may fail to operate correctly. Thermal management is a major technical challenge as components are getting smaller, power densities are increasing and demands on robustness and reliability are becoming more stringent. To prevent power losses or defects resulting from overheating, liquid thermal interface materials (TIMs) are being increasingly used to dissipate their heat. This White Paper discusses the aspects that need to be taken into account when dispensing these mostly highly viscous, highly abrasive materials and why in many cases they are better alternatives to pads, tapes and foils....
Innovative process for sealing contours protects sensitive components
Sep 08, 2022 | Scheugenpflug
Liquid seals in the automotive industry have to meet high functional quality standards and have to be applied in the shortest possible time in view of the high volume of workpieces. This market environment gives rise to innovations that guarantee maximum speed and quality from initial design to final results....
Resource-efficient adhesion and potting technologies in electronics manufacturing
Aug 02, 2022 | Scheugenpflug
Saving resources in electronics manufacturing is not an end in itself. It is closely linked with reducing costs and gaining a competitive advantage. However, innovative adhesion and potting technologies in combination with highly functional adhesives and potting media make a significant contribution to the ideal union between economic performance and a reduced ecological footprint....
Maximal Performance Through Vacuum Potting
Jul 28, 2021 | Scheugenpflug
The performance of electronic components is compromised by factors such as bubbles in the potting medium. Increasing numbers of applications – particularly in the automotive and electronics industries – therefore require completely bubble-free dispensing methods. This is where potting in a vacuum comes into focus. The widespread school of thought about this technology is that it is too complicated, too expensive and too slow. But a closer look shows that this view is incorrect. This is a mastered technology. As for costs, the calculation basis is key, since usually the potting and vacuum method is only considered after the required potting quality cannot be achieved reliably any other way. Under total cost of ownership assessments, higher system costs no longer play a key role, since component failure would result in much higher subsequent costs. And now there are proven solutions for high production volumes and/or shorter cycle times. This whitepaper explains when potting in a vacuum is ideal for your projects and what to be aware of....
Feb 18, 2020 | Scheugenpflug
Glob Top, Dam and Fill & Flit Chip Underfill To protect PCBs from damaging outside influences, they are coated with a thin layer of casting resin or protective finish during the conformal coating process. In addition to sealing the entire circuit board, it is possible to pot only sections or individual components on the substrate. Different methods ranging from "glob top" to "dam and fill" and "flip chip underfill" have been developed for this purpose....
Process Engineering - Why is preparation of adhesive bonding and potting materials necessary?
Feb 14, 2020 | Scheugenpflug
To meet the steady increase in technical requirements for electronic components, potting media properties must be extremely precise. Rheology, viscosity, filler content and curing behavior are only a few of the factors that play a role in their practical use. However, the growing complexity of materials often negatively impacts the ability to process or dispense them. In this case, material preparation and feeding systems specially designed for this purpose are required. These systems optimally prepare the material for the actual application and ensure homogeneous feeding to the dispensing system....
