Hello SMTNet, We had received boards from our CM, some came with a Tin plated finish on the SMT hermaphroditic edge connector, while others came with Gold plated on the same connector. Tyco supplies both version and they apparently mixed up parts.

The concern here is that one board is LEFT and the other one is RIGHT and they are both mating together! They should have been all Tin plated connector only like it used to be for years...

I’m a bit concerned about using two different surface finishes to mate boards. Maybe I shouldn’t but... I fear galvanic corrosion or other type of long term reliability issues.
