How Can I generate Pick and place files from Eagle | 14 August, 2018

I finished a new design recently and need the boards fabricated and soldered. The question is the manufacturer needs me to provide pick and place files for the assembly , can any ones help and advise how I can generate P&P file ? I use Eagle for PCB design and plan to arrange assembly on allpcb.

It will read an Eagle XML Brd file and generate over 80 different Pick and place files from 11 different manufacturers. You can also use it to generate a PCBCSV file that can also be input into other SMT generator programs.

Are you sure you mean pick and place files? Or does the manufacturer need centroid data to make their own pick and place files? Or they might even be able to use ascii CAD data to generate pick and place files.

Look for an export function. Probably right below Save As. See if you can export centroid data or ascii CAD files. If you can then send them to the manufacturer and ask if that is what they need.

Eagle doesn't have that option.All useful outputs are generated via the ULP file. Which are user generated files that are written by users.

Hi Stephen, it seems they call it differently . What they need is an insruction data they can import to the machine, how the IC is soldered, the relative orientation for some parts,ect.

I want to say that I did that last year. You can download Eagle for free(trial period), open the ASCII and generate the P&P file. It was an option under the file menu I think....not hundred percent sure....but it was definitely saying exports P&P file....install it and give it a try.
