Materials Management - Buying Groups

Have question related to materials management / purchasing. Our company is a small EMS firm. Would appreciate any information anyone has regarding the existence of buying groups for CM's (i.e. for components, etc.). I am relatively new to the industry and any assistance is appreciated. We are located in Canada, but USA info also appreciated. Thanks.
