IPC Printed Circuits Expo APEX

Conference & Exhibition: March 31 - April 2, 2009
Meetings: March 29 - April 2, 2009

Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center, Las Vegas

IPC APEX EXPO™ 2009

Join thousands of colleagues from more than 50 countries at our industry's premier event a celebration of printed circuit board and electronics manufacturing and test technology. Find the technology you need, meet new suppliers, network with industry experts, input on vital industry standards, learn from new research papers and return to your company with the solutions you need.

The world of electronics manufacturing never ceases to move forward and in tough times, more than ever, it is important to find ways to thrive in a challenging environment. The best of these opportunities can be found at IPC APEX EXPO, March 31April 2, 2009, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center, in Las Vegas. There will be processes and technologies to increase efficiency, new findings and research to stay ahead of the competition, and a full exhibit hall offering new resources and new ways to save money and still drive through business challenges.

Beginning on March 29, the movers and shakers of the industry will participate in more than 70 IPC standards development committee meetings. These meetings enable valuable discourse in the development of industry standards influencing all aspects of the manufacture of printed boards and electronics assembly and ultimately impacting companies, customers and suppliers worldwide.

Also kicking off on March 29, the professional development program offers more than 60 full-day and half-day courses covering a broad range of critical topics including the latest in advanced technologies, design, green initiatives, lead-free technologies, materials, process improvements, solder joint reliability and more.

At the industry's premier technical conference March 31April 2, more than 100 industry experts will lead 35 sessions and present leading research and findings in the key areas of soldering, advanced packaging, materials and reliability, in addition to new sessions focusing on moisture sensitivity, high temperature processing, die attach, and electronics and the environment.

Attendees can take advantage of many free activities such as: keynote sessions, including a focus on technologies of the future with inventor Ray Kurzweil, survival with TV's Survivorman Les Stroud and economic insights with Walt Custer and Sharon Starr; the new OEM Summit, where key OEM executives cover a diverse set of topics ranging from halogen-free to REACH to new interconnect technologies; Free Forums offering updates by experts in critical areas such as environmental regulations, counterfeit components, test and inspection, industry cost challenges, as well as a look into future technologies and roadmaps from around the world; free poster presentations highlighting the latest research; and many free professional networking events to brainstorm with colleagues and forge new business relationships.

Starting March 31 in the exhibition hall, the world's top suppliers of printed boards and electronics manufacturing and test technology will be showcasing the latest equipment, chemicals, materials, software and services. Attendees will benefit from hands-on demonstrations and face-to-face interactions with suppliers to guide future purchasing decisions and find solutions to current challenges in new products and services. The Accelerating Future of Electronics and Information

RAY KURZWEIL

Tuesday, March 31, 8:30am 9:30am, Opening Keynote Session

Called "the restless genius" by the Wall Street Journal and "the ultimate thinking machine" by Forbes, Ray Kurzweil is an inventor, entrepreneur, author and futurist. Kurzweil's ideas on the future have been touted by his many fans, ranging from Bill Gates to Bill Clinton. MIT's Marvin Minsky writes that "with his brilliant descriptions of the coming connections of computers with immortality, Kurzweil clearly takes his place as a leading futurist of our time."

Combining wit and keen insight into contemporary issues of technology and its impact on society, Kurzweil's presentation will offer engaging demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies. And if we're lucky, perhaps Ramona, his "virtual female alter ego," will honor us with her presence.

SO ... There I Was ... with Les Stroud

LES STROUD

Thursday, April 2, 2:30pm 3:30pm, Closing Keynote Session

Les Stroud knows what it takes to be a survivor, even when his adversaries are sharks literally. Best known as star of the highly-acclaimed hit TV series Survivorman, Stroud is a prolific, creative force. He has adeptly combined his love for the outdoors and his skills as a filmmaker to become the only producer in the history of television to produce an internationally broadcast series entirely written, videotaped and hosted alone.

Survivorman has gone on to become the highest rated show in the history of both OLN Canada and the Science Channel US and is quickly becoming one of the most popular shows on the Discovery Channel US. Stroud's addictive personality landed him on the 2007 "Top 100 People We Love To Watch" list for Entertainment Weekly magazine and the host spot for the 20th anniversary of Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.
