Russ: Youre correct. I should have explained our reasons for preferring concave over convex better. First, we use both also ... we just prefer concave because they: * Dont bridge any where near as easily. * Self-center better. * Seem to have mor

Take a look at the boards, too. Could the HASL be different (in particular a domed or convex cross section) than what you're used to seeing? Is your printer actually working properly?

| | I am in the process of picking a new resistor network for one of our new board. Since we are new to SMT i would like to get some opinions on networks. Currently we use one molded gullwing type network on our boards with no problems. Other than sp

We have to place some LCC208's. The terminations are flush with the underside of the package, on an 0.5mm pitch. The pads on the board are flat tin. We'd like to get the part up in the air a little to provide some clearance for cleaning. Is there a w

Suggestions please... I have to place a number of 1206 chip resistor arrays on the bottom side of my PCB for wave soldering. The device consists of 4 x 0603 resistors in a 1206 package. The device is available with either concave or convex terminati

Thanks, Dave appreciate the info. One of my trains of thought was leading to the convex because I thought that having the "bump" would allow for easier wave soldering? I did look at some data we had and did find you to be correct, the concave hav

I asked several people their opinion of HASL 0201 pads and there was no positive feedback whatsoever. The most common concern was the domed/convex shape of the pad finish that would result in aperture gasketing problems, which you may already have e

Hi Colin, Are you using the 1206 package with 4 elements or one of the higher density smaller packages? With the first type you can get them in both Convex or Concave terminations, with most of the solderability problems associated with using the C

Hi Colin, If it's easy for you to swap to Convex try the Rohm MNR14 series, Bourns CAY series or Eurohm NC Series. Else try a 10% apperture reduction - however we usually had a 6 thou stencil when we did this. Cheers, Rob.
