Is there anybody out there doing this scenario: SAC 305 Reflow & SN100C Wave and Selective Can the 2 alloys be mixed on 1 board, say, SAC 305 for SMT, and SN100C for thru-hole? Are 2 different rework chemistries needed, or can one use SN100c wire

Just wondering what the companies that are use SN100C are using for reflow (I guess SAC), and especially for handsoldering. Do SAC and SN100C mix? are there any studies proving this?

We switched to Sn100C on 2 waves and kept one with SAC305. The SAC305 will be converted to SN100C as soon as the Aim rep. delivers it next week.

We are thinking of switching over from sac305 to sn100. Has anyone had any experience with this changeover and is there any drawbacks to switching to sn100?

kkay: I'm not real clear on where in the assembly process flow that you are considering replacing SAC305 with SN100. Please clarify

Russ is correct. We have been using SAC 305 for SMT and SN100C for wave and selective and repair for about a year. May switch to SN100C in SMT at some point if we can get some paste that wets better.

If you do SMT with an SAC alloy, and the Wave Solder with SN100C, what is the impact of accidentally reworking the through hole parts with an SAC alloy wire solder? Or reworking the SAC alloy with an SN100C wire solder? Brian

has anyone used or trialed the SACX from Alpha, from reportes and studies carried out it seems that its a go between SAC305 and SN100.

I was wondering if someone could tell me the steps they went through to convert a SAC305 Wave Solder pot over to SN100C. I'm having wave solder problems with SAC305 and I'm considering a change to SN100C. Didn't know if it was a -in replacement or
