Upon further investigations, the patent numbers givin were on the cover leter from Mit. They also sent cover leters of the Patent's and they indicate numbers 4,312,692 (jan 26 1982)Method of mounting electronic components and 4,314,870 (Feb 9 1982)

Actually, I showed this to a customer recently http://farm.tucows.com/images/2006/01/uncle_rico_time_machine_2.jpg , and they were very impressed. I told them we could use this apparatus to build through-hole circuit cards from 1982.

I don't know what type of boards you are doing but if they are through hole or surface mount. You can get a whole line of used equiptment for pennys these days. I am sure that I could send you a quote for a complete line. The price of used equiptment
