It all depends where the voids are, and that's tough to do with a transmission x-ray. One needs to be able tilt the assembly at 45-degrees during x-ray, so you can get an idea where the void is. Or, you spend some big bucks for an x-ray laminography

Let's go for Ugly..... I've used these in the past for attaching connectors to boards and tabbed Transistors to extruded Aluminum heatsinks with mixed results. The concept is great but, in practice there are some headaches to deal with. We've gotten

Hello, I found the previous discussion of lead free profiles on 5 zone ovens very interesting. I had the same concerns, but have recently succeeded in creating profiles on a 5 Zone QUAD oven that have eliminated solder splatter or Solder on Gold w

There's no easy answer. It depends on: * Thickness and size of the PCB in the array. * Means of separation. * Type of component. SMT components are more sensitive to the forces that need to be applied to separate the PCB. * Type SMT device. Ceram

Tell me about it, I've set up & run places with placement capacities of 180K & 300K Per hour, and on the other side places with around 2-5KPH (if you ran quick enough between the machines & were nifty with a rubber blade). And I've worked for some o

I'm sorry, Dave - I didn't make myself very clear. Yes, this space (not really a "gap") is filled with solid solder. For instance, if you place a gull-wing component in solder paste, after reflow, there will probably be a thin film of solidied solder

We have two, about 2.5 years old and 1.5 years old. We run all kinds of parts and get about 18K to 20K CPH. The pick accuracy is fantastic so have saved a lot of $$$$ by not having dump buckets full of parts at the end of runs. I could not be happier

Hi, I've been looking into UV cureable conformal coating and the UV ovens but a chemist I know is very negative about this. He suggest by heating standard conformal coating to 90deg for a couple of minutes will make the product good enough to handle
