Dewetting on Second side reflow?????

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 31 13:22:51 EST 2006 | realchunks

Are you using Houdini brand paste? It really depends on the part and pad size, but I kinda doubt that youre paste is disappearing during the 2nd reflow. Do a side by side comparison of first pass versus second pass reflow and show your operator.

yeah, that's what I've explained to them is that it is not going to disappear. Currently they are in the process of running this PCB again and I'm going to do the side by side comparison. Thanks for the input.

So at incoming inspection, what are the results for your "dip & look" solderability testing [IPC/JEDEC J-STD-002A] of the specific problem component?

We've just started running a lot of double sided assemblies. What is the preferred method for removing paste from a board that is populated on side 1 if the side 2 print is poor? Thanks John S.

SnPb No-Clean. We've done it on bare boards with alcohol and an ultrasonic bath, but that seems very agressive on a half populated board. Thanks John S.

Check with sigmaprint. They are the origional designer and have an upgrade package. The reason that piece is so expensive is it is a one piece machined stainless steel foil that is 0.010 inch thick. http://www.sigmaprint.co.uk/spares.htm

Which nozzles are coming up NG on the large camera? If it's the smaller ones, don't worry about it. Those nozzles don't use the large camera anyways. Be concerned if the small nozzles are coming out NG on the small camera.
