This happens to be after the water wash process. These are Burn-In boards so an SMT epoxy is used prior to wave. The flux used is Kester 2331ZX. Would using a thinner cause this to occur? The residue is all over the board. Thanks.

Thanks Dennis, The fact that someone other than myself has experienced this is good to hear. Solder mask type should be spec'd all the same through out the many board suppliers we use but its worth the check.I have checked with kester but am still aw

Try tinning pads with a high pH water soluble flux like Kester 2331-ZX or Alpha Metals 3355-HB is what we use. It will remove the contamination quick;y without having to scrape with a blade. If you have a large number of bare boards you can run them

Yes, we have had this happen with certain solder masks over the years. Hot air gun is the best solution we can find if the oven doesn't do it. Back in the day when we had a vapor degreasor, freon based solvents would also remove the clouding. Let
