Even BGA may be no braner if it's done properly :-) I had a few cases with that and afterall it worked fine. :-) I agree, it was a good think to mention. Vlad

There is one thing you should keep in mind, though. It's better not to have any area of the leads covered with only SAC after re-flow, just to make sure you Sn-whiskers won't have any chance to grow :-) Vlad

Yes, we are looking at using it for our solder paste. The customer mentioned wants us to test our boards and initially we've heard the SAC105 is better for "higher mechanical stressed" assemblies. Thanks for your reply!!

Can anyone take a look on the cross sectional diagram of this reflowed BGA ball? Any idea on what has happened to this? The PCB surface finsihing is OSP with regular lead-free 305/405 solder paste. Thanks SC

S The tater/potater/potatoe is optional, although I'd rather put mine in the microwave while doing the pot swap so I can eat it afterwards.

thanks for the info. I'll see what they want to do. I'm sure that a bag of potatoe's will be the way to go because it's cheap.

Hi Peter Its looks on a par with mine so not bad at all but our alloy is considerably cheaper than SAC305 and significantly shinier We used our 10-75-30-R VOC free flux with topside of 100 - 105C Cheers Greg

I bought a geiger meter and put it together myself, it works just fine. You can buy it assembled for $305.00, or buy the kit for $195.00. Check it out here: http://www.geigercounters.com/Monitor4.htm

SAC305 has a liquidous state temperature 217 degC. Check the datasheet to compare to this temp. I suppose, it may be lower. - Cheers !
