I agree with Jay. The paste will reflow first before the balls. The main reason is the flux content and the dimension of the spheres.

I agree with dry wiping. We have 4 SPM's and 2 AP25's, we have never had a need for solvent. I would be cautious using alcohol/ or alcohol based solvents.

I agree with the loose parts but you can also put a O-scope where the encoder output goes into the computer to see if the signal has a lot of noise. A noisy signal can sometimes fool the input card into thinking the encoder pulses are ok.

We agree with John about his comments on the controlable factors relating to your printer, but we'd add that paste formulation and mesh are also contributors to nice looking bricks.

Yes. I agree with the previous comments. If you will switch to Water Soluble Flux you need an Aqeous Cleaner.
