Use lead-free alloy wire during rework for Leaded Process

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 31 22:09:25 EST 2006 | davef

The is a serious concern of lead contamination of leadfree solder connections. For background, search the fine SMTnet Archives. For instance: http://www.smtnet.com/forums/Index.cfm?CFApp=1&Message_ID=30307

Hi Davef, do you have the paper you reference? Pan, et al. (IPC/JEDEC, San Jose, 2005)? if so, will you be able to send it to me? akane@harvardgrp.com Thanks in advance Amol

Reflow Problems

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 04 10:07:07 EST 2007 | Mario Scalzo, CSMTPE

davef is correct. The solder is indeed wicking to the hottest part of the leads. Slowing down the conveyor will alloy the board and component to come to temperature at a lower delta T.

PbF solder paste with 63Sn/37Pb reflow profile

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 23 19:27:28 EST 2007 | asir

which characteristics? An alloy with similar melting points, wetting, shear force, reliabilities, etc. Indium has an article about 77.2Sn/20.0In/2.8Ag, but was wondering is there any other out there.

or low melt Sn/Pb/Bi alloy, readily available and fairly cheap. If your UK based I will send you a sample if it will help you prove it cheers greg

best foam flux for pb-free wave soldering with alloy Sn100

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 04 08:45:37 EDT 2007 | meritajs

Hi, colleagues! We only start using pb-free tehnology Our wave have foam fluxer What kind of flux would be best if we will use Sn100 solderbar What is your experience Best regards Peter

What to use SAC305 or SAC405??

Electronics Forum | Tue Apr 17 00:27:48 EDT 2007 | pfifla1

take a look at sn100c, less dross & better wetting than sn/pb alloys.

What is the selection criteria of solder paste with respect to their alloy composition? ( Any recommended website or *.pdf file) AND What is its main dependance either on SMDs,PCBs,factory manufacturing cost & SMT equipment? Best Regards Muhammad H

Leadfree Wave Erosion

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 23 03:15:13 EDT 2007 | Esah

Yes, we also never experience erosion phenomenon on our solder pot. We are currently using one Sn Cu based alloy, which is SCS7.
