warp and twist

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 13 23:05:02 EST 2017 | swestheimer

I have been asked a very good question but have not been able to find a good answer. IPC for both PCB and PCBA refer to the X & Y dimensions to measure warp and twist but how would you determine the warp and twist for a round PCB or PCBA?

Aluminum and silica contamination

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 12 13:42:19 EST 2011 | dwonch

Hi All, I'm hoping there is a PCB expert or two hanging around. We're having some solderability issue on our boards. The finish is ENIG but it doesn't seem to be related to the finish process itself. We did SEM and EDX analysis and found aluminum an

COB and wire bond

Electronics Forum | Mon May 07 11:02:17 EDT 2001 | Singh

Hi all. I am looking into the implementation of the Chip on Board process with eutactic bonding and the then using either gold or aluminum wire to make wedge type wire bonding. Since I am totally new to this, can somebody guide me thru the process,

COB and Plating

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 07 12:35:10 EDT 2008 | andy_pal

Hi All, I am using COB on my DOUBLE SIDED PCB. lastly we used Eletrolytic Ni / Flash Gold Plating. Our Boards vias Failed the UL corrosion Test. we did some cross-section analysis and found 10.75 m of Nickel and 0.022 um of Gold and as the Process

Processing questions - PCB and BGA's

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 30 14:20:55 EST 2009 | scottp

I do a lot of thermal cycle testing of new components for my company and often when I lay out a test board I'm trying to simulate 4 or 6 layer boards but I don't need them for routing so I just use a solid fill of a cross-hatch pattern. I've done it

Processing questions - PCB and BGA's

Electronics Forum | Fri Jan 30 10:29:48 EST 2009 | petep

We have a potential new customer who has special PCB requirements. I do not know a lot of details at this point, but have several questions. One of their assemblies has within it , a MID, Solid foil layer, completely isolating one side of the PCB f

| | Couple of questions. | | 1) Are we talking alumina substrates as the ceramic material? | | 2) Are we co-firing gold as the conductors on the substrate surface? | | 3) In other words, is this a hybrid thick film circuit? | | 4) If so, how large or

Re: Bow and Twist of PCB's

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 19 08:00:55 EDT 1998 | Earl Moon

| Hi there, | I'm actually facing a lot of trouble with PCB's presenting up to 3mm of bow /twist at reception i.e. before assembly. The PCB size is 220 by 230mm. The boards are to be assembeled SMD double sides with 05.mm pitch on both sides. In orde

Bar Coding - auto print and apply solutions

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 20 15:59:15 EDT 2007 | blnorman

We use preprinted labels and laser coding. For PCB we laser mark with CO2 (NdYAG for the aluminum heat spreaders). We either have an epoxy legend to burn out or we burn the solder mask to expose the copper ground plane underneath. Laser is a much

Standard of PCB Bow and Twist in Incoming Inspecion

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 28 09:08:03 EST 2003 | davef

Without drilling through the numbers, they're probably correct. Recognize that standard warp / twist specs [IPC-A-610 1.5% for PTH only and 0.75% for SMT] are not going to make it on tech boards. You need to define specific requirements. This warp
