Ahh that makes a lot of sense. All the boards I will be doing for the next while will be leaded, so I think I'll start with the 1500, and then worst case upgrade later if needed.

I would suggest you look a the Sikama International Falcon 5 benchtop reflow system, Economical, reliable and good value. You may be able to get one on the used equipment market.

Yes, No standard.Normally QFN supplier suggest 50-75 um (2-3 mil), but it's very hard to achieve and hard to make consistent stand-off in prodution.
