I would suggest creating a special reflow profile, heating the board up to 130C about 50 c below eutectic point (183C). Then applying heat to only the BGA, this will prevent thermal shock to surrounding components.

The only way I have been able to do it so far is to apply a very agressive flux and then wave the board and then wick all of the pads. (Totaly S#$KS). I trust you will eliminate this finish in the future? I hate tin for this reason. Russ

Does anybody know where I can get a good high temp soldering iron. We recently began making a very thick board with lots of ground planes in it that dissipates the heat applied to the solder very well, making it difficult to rework. Thanks in advanc

Some questions: Is the peelable/spot masking only being applied to the earthing points on the one side or to both sides? Is the peelable mask you are using specifically designed for coating masking or is it the same as that you use for masking sold
