through hole questions

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 21 10:28:23 EST 2014 | gregp

Hi Adam, So with two to three people on the slide line, each only able to place five different components maximum, this means you generally don't exceed 10-15 through hole parts per assembly, correct? I am guessing these are mixed technology boards

Royonics assembly

Dear all, new Royonic equipment can be ordered at Mycronic Germany. http://www.mycronic.com/www2/main.nsf/content.xsp?action=openDocument&documentId=5ED0C834AADB1130C1257CC200390FB4&cat=C47&first=true best regards Hans

Mosfet checking

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 31 09:10:48 EST 2014 | rgduval

If you suspect a short, check the resistance on a new board that hasn't been powered up. The data sheet should give you the junction resistances that you're looking for. Double check against a component not assembled on the board. If you measure a

PCB Design

Most powerfull tool for PCB design - it's your brain, Richard. All others - just a auxiliary instruments. I have assembled a good project, which was designed in Paint (yes, I mean Microsoft Paint!), and, also, I have many examples of bad projects, wh

PCB SHELF LIFE AFTER FIRST REFLOW

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 09 06:56:39 EST 2015 | saoasasd

What is the maximum PCB shelf life for double side PCBs after first reflow? I mean, after assembly bottom side, how long can I keep the PCB without solder paste waiting for the second reflow? (Considering exposure on production environment conditions

PCB SHELF LIFE AFTER FIRST REFLOW

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 09 07:55:16 EST 2015 | jax

Without knowing the surface finish of the PCB lets focus on an alternative problem... At a minimum, you need to look at the 1/2 built assembly like individual components, all having their own MSD levels and all subject to 2nd side reflow temperatures

PCB with stains bleach after flux aqueous wash

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 11 14:55:52 EST 2015 | erezah

we received assembled PCBs with spots that look like a bleach spots all over the PS and CS . The board house said that this is normal due to flux aqueous wash process. Can it cause problems (e.g. corrosion ) in the long run or cause issues when wor

PCB profiling

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 11 16:38:20 EST 2015 | barryg

I was curious what others in pcb assembly are doing as far as profiling. Is profiling an important part of the smt process? Should every board type processed be profiled to determine optimum oven temps per paste recommendations. Is it ok to assume tha

PCB profiling

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 13 10:10:21 EST 2015 | rgduval

I'm with Evtimov...if you've got a new assembly with a BGA (and especially if BGAs aren't an every day occurrence in your process) it should definitely be profiled. I have run BGA boards without profiling before, and got lucky...but, I wouldn't reco

Flux wave on PCBs

Electronics Forum | Sat Mar 14 15:48:40 EDT 2015 | horchak

The white haze is definitely an indication of moisture being trapped in uncured or improperly applied solder mask. You can verify this by heating up the board using a heat gun on an area of the board with the white haze, and if it clears up that is t
