Weird resistor color code

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 22 21:57:52 EST 2021 | stephendo

Are they all evenly spaced? If that first gold is orange and the black is spaced farther apart than the others then it could a polarity band or not really a band. Don't know why a resistor would have one. If that is the case then it is a 47K 5%. Whi

Pb-free wave soldering with SMD

Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 29 08:50:39 EST 2005 | pjc

Band width relates to conveyor speed to achive a 2 second contact time for Sn/Pb wave soldering. A typical conveyor speed is 150cm/min with a band width (contact band width between PCB and solder) of 5cm. Now for Pb-Free wave soldering a longer conta

Silver Sulphide Contamination of Resistors

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 23 16:11:51 EST 2001 | Dave E

The sulphur outgassing from these rubber bands was >enough to contaminate every board... Well, if every rubber band is a threat then sulphur contamination must be a common problem. Are sulphur test kits available?

jedec tray tape

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 07 05:28:49 EDT 2009 | kpm135

In my experience tape is bad when packaging trays. I've always seen them packaged with the banded straps when coming from manufactures or brokers. For repackaging we either use ESD safe rubber bands or ESD safe velcro straps.

NiPdAu Soldering Problems?

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 19 15:52:18 EDT 2008 | davef

This is not something that we'd expect to see on NiPdAu finished leads. Help us understand the extent of the problem better. From your picture, it looks like a band of copper color with black on the outer portions of the copper color that bleeds int

Why? Sounds like a Band-Aid. Are you screen printing of dispensing adhesive?

Wave Solder Immersion Depth, Contact length, Dwell Time etc.

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 16 02:00:12 EST 2001 | PeteC

Dreamsniper, The optimum contact (dwell) time in the wave should be 2 seconds. Contact band width is a function of conveyor speed. For an example, 5cm of contact band width at 150cm/min. conveyor speed will give you 2 seconds of contact time and 2cm

What's The Dealy-O With Smocks?

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 21 14:36:58 EST 2005 | Cmiller

To try to address the original question, the smocks we use have a pretty healthy wrist band on them that grounds them to your skin. You still need to wear heel straps to ground your body to the floor. Some smocks do not have the wrist bands and those

NiPdAu Soldering Problems?

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 19 21:31:15 EDT 2008 | trynders

Thanks for the response guys! The parts are being sent to a local lab as we speak. I'll let you know the results when I get them. I am not sure the purpose of the copper band, but the black around the band is just shadowing from how I took the pi
