OT: Wavesolder Process Engineer Needed

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 14 11:31:27 EDT 2008 | stepheniii

There are people who have abilities and skills to do and accomplish things. These people must do the things they can do. Some people do not have such skills and abilities. They must be put in charge (what else can they do). I've known management

SOT Solder Problem

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 12 07:35:23 EDT 2008 | stevezeva

Hi, Is the footprint per the component manufacturers recommendations? The reason I ask is because it kinda looks like the pads are extending beneath the component. Could cause the part to float up on top of the solder and not allow the leads to wet

Imm Silver tarnish?

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 27 18:28:29 EDT 2008 | blnorman

We have an immersion silver board that has a brown discoloration after processing. It's not flux residue, that normally doesn't cause this condition. Elemental analysis shows less than 1% sulfur, and I thought silver sulfide is more a black color.

Clean vs No-Clean

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 08 10:34:37 EDT 2008 | blnorman

Because of our high volume production, we use no clean flux. We have experienced leakage currents with leadless QFNs. One problem is the part isn't being utilized as it should, but another is the flux residue. There is ionic residue in no-clean fl

Criteria for storing finished SMT assemblies, shelf-life?

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 12 08:01:55 EDT 2008 | davef

There is no standard. On the web, you can find shelf life estimates for various types of solderability protection on bare boards. These estimates won't translate directly to the storage of assembled boards, because assembled boards [and the solderabi

OEE measurement

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 16 08:02:15 EDT 2008 | cyber_wolf

OEE is something that is difficult to project, because there are many factors that effect it. Component replenishment, change-over times, programming issues etc. I am sure the Fuji applications folks would be happy to figure out how many modules you

Bench or Tabletop Router

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 17 08:53:55 EDT 2008 | markhoch

I'm going to reincarnate an old thread because my search of the great SMTnet Archives on this subject couldn't unearth anything newer then three years old. We're in the market for an inexpensive router for a low volume application. Can some of you

Nitrogen Generation Equipment ( reliability)

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 26 12:17:43 EDT 2008 | stepheniii

They have the extra benefit of providing oxygen enriched air at the filter site. We have had no problems and have had the filter for a couple years but we did get a second air compressor because of it. Hmm maybe I should go "inspect" it now. I"m f

OSP coating verification

Electronics Forum | Wed Oct 01 10:57:53 EDT 2008 | blnorman

Oxford Instruments makes a device called the OSPrey 800 that measures OSP thickness on the pads. We took a look at it last year because we have one line that uses OSP. It is pricey, and that's why we didn't order one, but if you use a lot of OSP, m

Inconsistent mounting on TOPAZ-X

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 14 17:37:58 EST 2008 | snsmt

WHat about bad mounting? i have 2 fixtures and sometimes it would mount with no misalignment and sometimes it would. WHat could be the problem in this case/ I know the fixtures are good because they work on a different program that we have. I don't u
