Re: Clean before conformal coating?

Hi Cory, As a manufacturer of aqueous cleaning systems, my advise is somewhat biased, however I believe it to be accurate. We have hundreds of customers who have implemented no-clean programs. The programs have been successful when measuring the r

Re: Component solderability problems TO263 package

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 09 22:00:44 EDT 2000 | Dave F

Hey Charles!!! Where in earthly heaven did you get a TO263 with "large solderable tab (approx 8mm square) on the back and 5 leads"? All the TO263s thatve reached-up and smacked me have been "TO220s" with a modified tab and three leads that are f

Re: Skewing chip components

Sal, Silly question: Were the parts skewed before they went into the oven? I've chased down a few similar reflow problems in my lifetime, only to find out it was a pick and place problem. Wrong nozzle size, bad nozzle, feeder not advancing all

Jeff: You're correct 7.1.3 of ANSI J-STD-001C states " Drying / Degreasing states the assembly may be treated to remove moisture and other volitiles." We don't bake "FR4" for love nor money. The archive are littered with threads along this line.

Stuart, My suggestion is a DFM meeting (most of the process people dream about a meeting like this, and luckily, I've been to a few) with: - project manager (if there's one) - customer service rep (annual volume, lot size, product life) - smt proce

SMT hand soldering on HASL or Ni-Au boards?

Electronics Forum | Tue Apr 03 22:03:18 EDT 2001 | davef

With friends like you, who needs enemies? Id guess that the perceived benefits of flat pads for your 20 mil pitch and below components counter-balance the higher cost, gold being a solder pot contaminant, limited solder mask compatibility, potentia

Life of a Solder Stencil

Electronics Forum | Tue May 29 16:52:07 EDT 2001 | hussman

By far the easiest way is to track solder paste measurement on your board - or solder defects after reflow (key word- easiest). Why spend 2 weeks examining a stencil when it clearly doesn't make defects, or IS making defects. I find using 2-D data

Hi, I would agree. We purchased a TP9 just the slow machine, but we were a small company at the time, and it worked fantastic. Almost no maintenance, and it's a dream to changeover. The serivce in Australia is also very good, but that does not appl

It would be helpful to have some additional info on your line and process. Lets make some assumptions... Consider: re-tooling costs for your fab supplier. Can your supplier hold the additional tollerences for a larger panel. Can your supplier fab
