That is what I was looking for. The profiles did not make much sense to me. We are getting alot of cold solder joints or bumpy solder joints.

Is there a way that you could plot the data points of your profile into excel and post somewhere? Or can you give us some data on what your profile looks like? What exactly does this board look like? thickness, size, copper weight?

At the top of the page "search forum". Just type in "slim Kic". How is the "Old school profiling done"? Just curious. good luck, pr

What are the "incredible" differences? I am curious, I also profile old school and have not found value in "prediction" yet either. Russ

Can someone help me to advise the best profile for a board with the combination of both Lead Free and Non-Leaded part?If possible, pls advise the best preheat and reflow time and temprature.

I take it you mean that the Cap "explodes"! If so it sounds like the cap is not rated for the Temperature profile you are using. Check the temp.spec of the part. Check your reflow profile.

You guys treat this profiling nonsense like rocket science. Here's how easy it is to "reflow" and "profile". http://www.seattlerobotics.org/encoder/200006/oven_art.htm

Delta T is the temparture different between the highest and lowest measured point on a profile. Ramp and cooling rate should not exceed 4deg c/sec to prevent thermal shock to the components and pcbs. This will also minimise delamination.

JDumont is right on the money. With today's modern reflow ovens and closed-loop feedback systems that alert you when something's out-of-whack, I have yet to find an out-of-tolerance condition on a known-good profile.

Thanks This error only occurred with one oven profile with the reflow zone temperature set at 270C. Perhaps it really has to do with the exhaust pull as the oven is operating very near its temperature limit with this profile. I will check that. Tha
