What flux are you using to put them back on? you should be able to adequately clean the site after removal with alcohol or water depending upon the type of flux. "White grungy" usually comes from a liquid flux such as Alpha 857 being squirted on th

Orrrrr, just buy a small reflow oven, 5K to 7K, and eliminate the paste printing by using solid solder deposition. No shorts, no opens, no cleaning, and no voids. www.sipad.com If you decide to print your own paste later you can invest the extra 30

Your wash unit should dry the boards well enough for you just take them and run them second pass within minutes of exiting the wash unit. We did it for years with no problem at all. If you must the hour at 125 will dry the wash water more than enough

Is there not an issue with reflowign the SAC ball's in term's of drivign up the lead contect in a lead free joint that increases the risk of failure in them? certainly dramatically increases voiding... have some pictures of soem that a customer tried

I would ditto CAL, we have a jewel box 90 with the 5 axis and we love it. I really like being able to tilt, rotate, and move side to side front to back, Angle viewing under a BGA can be very informative as to the quality of reflow in seeing ball coll

You're correct, for every dumpster full of paper written about solder, there's a sentance written about fluxes. There's dribs and drabs about fluxes in most of the soldering books [ie, Manko, Klein-Wassink, Judd, Strauss, etc] and most of that is ve

olks, got one for you. What is the feeling on reusing SMT components that you have removed from an assembled PCBA? For example, you place your IC's and they are 180 deg out, you have to remove them.... but what about refiting the same devices? Are t

Hi Justin, Thanks for the feedback. We are inspecting with the naked eye. Most of what we do are prototype quantities, in this case 6 pcs, so AOI or measurement equipment has never seemed justified. The release looked uniform during the printing a

I'm just thinking out loud here with no experience to back it up, but I could see where you're trapping air or solvent filled voids inside the via by tenting from both sides. When you go through a heat cycle like reflow or wave solder you could be e
