I'm thinking of rework, not production. In order to rework the part you have to have an expensive split vision alignment system. A simple standard change would eliminate the need for an expensive system.

I don't have a placement machine available that will do the job reliably. An Air Vac DRS25 would work well if I had one but I can't afford it. A simple change to the part and cell would allow anyone to rework these parts without expensive equipment

Wow! Thanks for the replies, everyone. Lots to digest. I'm going to take some time to do some research in these various directions and may have more questions. Thanks again for the recommendations and advice.

The prices you have been given for rework stations are for new systems. You can find cheaper systems (much cheaper) out there from used equipment dealers. X-ray will be harder to find, but you may find one that will suit your needs at a reasonable

If the balls are lead free you need to be running a lead free profile on the oven even if you are running leaded paste.

We have got lots of voids at ALL LGA. Anyone has ideas to get rid of this issue or just minimize the size of voids ?. With the same paste, same reflow oven, looking good profile, we don't have that problem with BGA. Thanks.

Just because a certain profile works good for a board with a BGA does not mean it is automatically the correct profile to use for a different board that contains an LGA. Have you run a separate profile check with the board containing the LGA?

Can you give me any more information on how they take heat differently? Do they get hotter? Pull heat away from the PCB? Heat more even and pull heat away from the surface? Thanks, June
