I'm looking for some data to support my argument that HASL boards are not the most ideal boards for manufacturing involving BGA's and 0402's. I'm sure one of you SMT Gurus out there can point me in the right direction! Thank you in advance!

Hi Mark, Look on the bright side, if you want to change from HASL you've got the lead free issue which will allow you to evaluate all other finishes, and find the best one for you. Dave, have you seen any unleaded HASL finishes & any issues arising

Be careful if you use Ni/Au. The "black pad" phenomenum can be crippling. We moved from Ni/Au to OSP because of it. I also don't want to return to the lack of flatness of HASL.
