Our supplier is suggesting the 'removal and replacement' of programmable IC components to reduce cost. The removed components will be placed on other boards as well. Is there a risk in reworking programable IC components. Thank you.

Hi Sue, We have a Micromat Router & a Sony Router which we use for Rigid & flexi rigid. We use a press for Flex only (or where flex is joining the boards) & a scoring machine for other rigids. Hope that helps, Rob.

I'll third the motion for hand dipping the boards. One other idea is to get coating in a can. Many companies will supply coatings in aerosol cans for touch up and small usage.

Dave, Do you know if such thermal transfer study with CB-100 (or equivalent) is available for review? My customer is pursuing this option and I am curious on how much improvement I would see by specifying a conductive via fill on the board. Rgds, P

Agreed. You will find different part manufacturers have different coplanarity specs. In fact I have on supplier that calls out 7 mil max coplanarity. Then factor in board bow and twist and it becomes a real joy.
