no clean flux + wave soldering issue

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 02 14:59:41 EDT 2008 | hermes

if two boards with different solder masks give different results on flux residue level after soldering with the exact same machine settings than it is clear that one of the solder masks is not compatible with your no-clean flux. could be the solder m

Imm Silver tarnish?

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 27 18:28:29 EDT 2008 | blnorman

We have an immersion silver board that has a brown discoloration after processing. It's not flux residue, that normally doesn't cause this condition. Elemental analysis shows less than 1% sulfur, and I thought silver sulfide is more a black color.

BGA replacement process

Electronics Forum | Tue Sep 09 16:04:25 EDT 2008 | allan99

I don't think so if your process is a just in time rework, you have just to develop a profile at your rework station for each component and also clean the place (board) properly. If your process is not a JIT rework, you must have to bake the boards,

Miss Prints

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 04 10:30:22 EDT 2008 | realchunks

Wipe away all you want, if you look at your board under magnification you'll still see some paste stuck on your board. I guess it depends on what you consider clean to be. Most alcohol wipes will work fine, but only a form of washing will truly get

Best compromise

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 05 10:31:22 EDT 2008 | realchunks

Without knowing your board, oven or profile, I would suggest working the middle of your profile. Try a slower conveyor speed to increase your soak zone of your profile. This will decrease your delta-T across the board. You may also have to work on

SMT LEDS SOLDERING

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 12 18:19:59 EDT 2008 | davef

Questions are: * Why aren't the defective LED blinking? * Do the defective LED blink when removed from the board and tested according to the functional test that you used prior to assembling the boards? * Do the defective LED blink after the solder i

Black Pad?? (PICTURES)

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 20 15:41:19 EDT 2008 | patrickbruneel

Josh, You can not check the bare boards for black pad unless you remove the gold plating. Like Robin said black pad is nickel oxidation/corrosion and a result from bad electroless nickel plating bath control. The only preventative action you take is

SN100C Selective Solder Voiding

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 11 11:59:23 EST 2008 | joeherz

Update - We've tested a board previously having voiding issues with ENIG versions and the voiding has completely disappeared. No other variables were changed. Looks promising. I have an order of LF HASL boards arriving soon that we plan to split i
