Evaluating SMD Adhesives

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 28 09:17:17 EST 2001 | Dave G

I've heard of reliabilty problems caused by wave soldering melf's as well. We don't put Melfs on the bottom of our PCB's on newer designs. We only have to deal with gluing & putting them through the wave on some of our older legacy designs. Increasi

Maximum Track Width for 0805 components Land

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 06 10:58:49 EDT 2001 | davef

If your words imaged correctly, it seems a bit strange to have a trace that is wider than the pad where it connects, because were used to seeing a narrower trace connecting to a wider pad. Its tough to determine what the designer was thinking abou

IPC-D-356 is a data transfer language developed by the IPC to replace Gerber. It is a far more intelligent form of physical definition for PCB/PWB. The only segment of the language that seems to have developed any market support is the physical netl

Reflow Oven

Hey Steven, Achieving the proper profile like you described does require you to engineer proper conveyor speeds and zone temps. Most conveyorized ovens have the inside of the ovens divided into zones. Each zone has a top and bottom heater that can

Hi DaveF, Thanks for your suggestions. You are good man! Couple of years ago, I asked a question in this Forum, you are the first one gave me help. I also read many topics almost all of them have your comments and suggestions. I think in all those y

This SMT process certainly makes a body want to win the $$$ and retire! We have been trying to stabalize the process and keep running into new problems. Any help would be appreciated on this issue. All pads on both sides have the same look - partial

Ian is correct in saying that the Cert.s and x-section should be forwarded to QA. It would be the responsibility of Incoming or Receiving Inspection to validate the materials. Your suppliers are offering proof that they comply to industry standards o

Is anyone still using Loctite 348 chipbonder for bottom side attachment? Is it truly adequate for dispensing up to 18k/hour? We will be dispensing with a Camelot 2800, so somewhere in the neighborhood of 15k/hr. is as fast as we'll ever see. I'm c

Thank you all very much for the responses. The solder is eutectic and the problem, as far as I can tell, has been around before I was here, 2+ years. The flow machine is a treiber with 2 bottom preheaters and 1 top. The solder pot temp is 500F +/-4F

Another Wave Solder Question....

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 24 16:17:31 EST 2002 | mzaboogie

I have recently been asked to look into some problems that we are having at wave. It is common for us to have unsoldered joints for boards that have SMT parts epoxied to the bottom side. Recently we have had a problem with a gold plated board. The wa
