In short physics. A large Black object will absorb more energy than a smaller non-black object. Thus the temperature will remain lower around the black object as it heats up ! sarason

Can Mirtec AOI detect MISSING metallization on the resistors? I love to know how to add into the program to catch it. Thank you!

Warpage of a completed assembly is an uncommon requirement. I would ask whoever is laying that requirement on you to define how they would like you to measure it.

Here is a PCBA Warpage calculate method after complete SMT/Through hole assembly Warpage calculation method = warping height / length of the curved edge

Are your solder relief pads connected to anything in terms of ground planes that would increase the thermal load or are they floating copper? I take it your talking about wave solder relief pads?

I have a MS level 3 component that has been on the shelf for 7 years. Should it be baked before usage. The HIC card reads ok- and it was stored with desiccant. History of the part is unknown, was purchased from franchised distribution.

simpel answer is yes it will need to be baked, the typical shelf life for a sealed component assuming it has been sealed would be a max of 2 years but some are shorter. The bugger problem with the device may well be solderability of the device!

Search for the bios or motherboard on ebay. Type in the part numbers you find on the boards and see if anything comes up. Often these are standard pc boards. I've repaired my old MPM by finding the cards on ebay cheap.
