We are a small start up. We will be buying a stenciling machine and semi automated pick and place. ( We have the oven) We are presently stenciling without any assit and loading leadless parts only(no fine pitch) by hand. We need to improve thrupu

bill is right about finding a reputable dealer, i do have a horror story about buying a machine that was not what it was sold to be. But there are some good ones out there.. if you do have interest in a machine feel free to ask the forum our opinion

Clarissa, Like any used equipment, make sure both you and the dealer know what you expect from the machine. Ask questions! Make sure you understand what is involved in the refurbishment, if anything. Things like Technical support will be important if

Henry, TNT makes some good points. I have also found that the use of a 2% silver solder paste (provided that it's allowable) can help reduce the occurance. You may want to run a thermal profile on the PCB is question. Is the board thermaly equalized

Hi Henry, amoung all things that cause this funny effect the most effective measures in my experience were good PCB design (pads and equal thermal conditions for both sides of the components), placement accuracy and profiling, profiling, profiling. L

All of the information so far has been great, I would like to add one more thing to the puzzle. We have utilized a "homeplate" aperture on the stencil when the pad geometry or PCB design prohibits all of the above mentioned remedies. The hompeplat

One thing we found out when we did new stencil is this, you reduce the stencil aperture by 10% is actually based on the Gerber. Please note also that the PCB supplier also makes the PCB according to the Gerber and there is a reduction on the pads as

Larry, What has been removed from the machine lately. Most bearings don't just fall apart while running without giving some type of warning. My experiance with LM bearings is they usually don't just fall out, most cases the bearing block was removed

KA, Joshua makes a good point. A wave solder fixture will allow you to process your double-sided boards without having to add the epoxy step. The one time fixed cost of a fixture is quickly offset by the time that you save by not gluing your SMT.
