Re: Solder Paste Height

Electronics Forum | Sat Jan 06 21:56:54 EST 2001 | Greenman

While solder paste height is one possible process indicator, the other guys are right on the money - volume is key. One way to study overall paste volume is to measure every single pad, using a 3D laser analysis (see you next week for board 2)... OR

Cyberoptics makes a device called a Cybersentry. wonderful machine. Will work in line or off line. I used one in a former company. You program what pads and locations you want, and it can measure volume or height, and give you charts. You can en

Is my employer living in a vacuum? Are we the only ones doing this? I can't find anything in the archives on this topic, so forgive me if it's been hashed over before. Our major chip supplier is giving us less than a year to convert our products o

Currently where I work, we are busy running trials with smaller component sizes. Consumer Electronics is being driven to smaller and smaller products. Just look at the short history of the cell phone. Remeber when they used to look like Army Walki

I don't know the specs. of our MSHII's, as I'm sort of detached from that part of the process, but supposedly they are capable. Panasonic also recommends we buy all new feeders (well, big surprise there), because of the risks involved with retrofitti

Panasonics are good machines as long as you do the proper and timely PM's they recommend. Plus with my past history and from others that I here, their feeders are some of their biggest down fall. That's typically why they have to introduce new style

While there may not be any specific requirement to cleaning prior to coating, cleaning an assembly prior to coating will only serve to increase the reliability and integrity of the coating. Some residues from low-solids fluxes can interact with conf

Cory, I've got a lot of experience of testing of this type. The physical (not chemical) nature of the flux residues is the crucial issue in compatibility. If you have a softer residue (either caused by a thick initial solder paste deposit, or a low p

Component Identity Help!

I'm hoping someone on this forum can ID this component. This is a Piccolo board used in an 8 ounce micro electric helicopter. This board has (2) 5 amp speed controls and a single rate piezo gyro to stabilize the helicopter in flight. My father's P

John, I'm no helicopter guru but maybe someone in these links can help. Good luck-Stevo Mario of MIA Micro-Flight fame has put a very nice diagram of how to hook-up seperate components in a Piccolo board fashion on his website. If you are thinking o
