RoHS actually allows for up to 0.1% lead in solder. Unless you are really sloppy at cleaning your tools it would be very unlikely that you would get 0.1% lead into your lead-free process (remember leaded solder is only about 50% lead). Regards, Ber

Chunks is a pretty with-it dude. The only additional thought I have is the possibility of poor misprint cleaning. If they're wiping instead of spray or US washing they may be contaminating the boards prior to reprinting. And yes, I know Chunks is

In my other, better equipped life, we'd wipe them down manually w/dilute IPA then run them through the inline cleaner, nc or ws. I'd avoid US unless you've qualified your process to verify you're not damaging parts with it.

Hi George, Depending on your product, wave soldering twice is not all that bad. Residues will be higher, but should only be cosmetic unless your product is sensitive to ionic contamination. You can set-up an alternate profile on your wave for 're-

Thank you all for your feedback. Our backside are 99.9% with passive components. However, we do have a lot of through hole components on boards. To go totally selective soldering the equipment can be quite expensive. Most of the time, we left the com

Lead-free? White-tin finish? Even if it's not, it sounds like a moisture/contamination issue. If your boards must sit in stock between reflow/wave, consider giving them an alcohol bath to clean up any contamination, and a good baking to remove any

Hi we are currently experiencing a problem with solder contamination of the gold contact pads on our pcbs following the reflow process, possibly through sputtering. We have been advise that this can be caused due to the pcbs being humid or due to th

Best I can tell (Factory is in Mexico) is no solder from paste print. I'm ordering e-fab type stencils for them hoping to get better release. Also mandating they clean after each print, rotate their paste to keep it fresh, do LSM checks each hour f
