I just purchased a used Philips CMS-84V pick and place machine and am curious if their software (CSM toolbox and/or CSM digitizer) is needed. I use the Protel for Windows PCB layout software. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

Take a look at this stuff: http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-178/iileuFX/view.jhtml Its used on boards in beverage vending machines, etc.... not Mil approved but is excellent for commerical apps.

Depends on the size, complexity, quantity, and density of the board. Also depends on the CM and lead time required... Choose 2 or 3 good CMs and send them a pcb for analysis and quote...

I would respectfully tell them to kiss off and go do their own damn analysis. Or something on a lighter note so as to preserve the customer's business.
