If you are using SMT machine for component placement you may check your nozzle where in some cases solder paste stuck to it and during placement will easily get into gold pad area. otherwise you have use kapton tape in order not to expose those pads.

What do the leads of the components look like when you pull them off? Are they covered in solder? Did the plating stay on the solder fillets attached to the pads?

Dear Steve, I think the plating o fthe leads stay on the solder fillets. The leads of component are free of solder. Regards, Rosen

Sometimes distributors endup with partial reels of componnts and are not able to sell the quantities of the partial lengths. So, they gather all the odd strips and have a contractor combine into a more attractive length reel for resale.

Paste too thick. Paste not aligned on pad. Part not aligned on pads. Part leads not straight. Oven profile. Paste slump from warm board. Operator before oven thinks they can place IC better than placement machine - so plays IC hockey with part. Oven

- Dirty stencil transfering paste from the stencil bottom. - Stencil opening (Pad Hole) to pad ratio incorrect - too large -misaligned stencil

It could be an over-zealous operator moving the IC with tweezers before reflow oven. Have a splendid day! -Samir

Set-down height to low, iow, parts getting squashed too deeply into the paste. No mask between pads on fine pitch. Pads too wide for the pitch.

I recently had the same problem and it drove me nuts. Finally discovered that I was using one fiducial twice instead of two different fiducials. Regards Bert
