Moisture free storage units.

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 16 17:13:24 EDT 2003 | fmonette

John, Maybe you know this already but I just wanted to highlight a few facts about dry cabinets. My experience is that many engineers are not well aware of the industry guidelines and sometimes will buy a dry cabinet without understanding the key f

Moisture free storage units.

Hey fmonnette, What's wrong if I have a dry cabinet and baked all my components under 1-3%RH or say 5%RH regardless of their MS Level, whether they r level 4, 5, 5a, 6 etc.... What will be my problems in doing that process? just for curiosity, th

Solder cream kits (flux and powder separately)

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 03 09:05:59 EST 2000 | Istvn Dominik

I received data sheets from a paste distributor in which Amtech gives a recipe how you can mix solder cream. They deliver the flux in plastic jars and the solderpowder in foil packages. You must mix the two components with a simple mixing tool. Has a

footprint formula

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 02 09:13:07 EST 2000 | jacqueline Coia

Could anyone please tell me if there is a quick simple formula for working out the ideal SMD footprint for a 52 pin QFP using the dimensions specified on the manunfacturers component drawing. I know of the IPC 'SMD land patterns' standard, which I e

Did you try the online-calculator at the IPC-page. If you have the datasheet it should be no problem. For wave soldering I cant tell if its suitable for that particular part, but you should add extra pads at the end of each column to solderbridging

Jack: "Calculator/Other" works for me. But you know what, I'll bet they block Scotts from using it, because they're reputed to be too cheap to buy the standard. ;-) (Your component is in the standard. ;-)) If you can't get the supplier to help and

$100K for a full in-line. We can do conventional spray at 30 to 50% less but you must mask components you don't want to coat. If they are on 1 end only of the board, then dip coat which is the least expensive option starting at around $12K for up to

Reliability Problem

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 29 21:18:00 EST 2000 | Gwen Z

When an assemblied board was on active service, what's the main reason for its failure:the package broken; the mechanics fatigue failure under thermal cycle; the corrosion caused by salt and vapor; the broken chip inside the package etc. I think all

Wavesoldering of PLCC44 package

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 25 05:42:17 EST 2000 | Istvn Dominik

Hi, We should wavesolder a PLCC44 package. The PCB is under the design procedure now and we must specify the best parameters (the orientation (45 or 90 degrees) of the package on the PCB,the number, the positon and the size of the solder thief pads

Re: Baking PCB's before Assembly

We just got a lesson on the effectiveness of heat sealed metalized vapor barrier bags. A customer sent us two bags of 100% saturated PBG components by air freight. This was for a demoisturizing test. When we found the devices 80% dry when they arrive
