I have Through Hole Assembly Boards that require Conformal Coating but the customer did not specify which area or parts should not be coated. Upon asking them they are also not sure about it. I have Transformers, PLCC's on a socket, IC's on a Socket

There is too much variation in the different Conformal Coating types and application requirements that you will get many different answers. Your controls will be tailored to the job requirements. My controls for parylene coating aerospace product is

You really need your customer to provide a drawing of coated, keep out, and don't care. People new to coating don't realise the importance of having a don't care buffer area around the keep out areas. And conformal coating wicks up leads quite easil

IPC-HDBK-830, Guidelines for Design, Selection and Application of Conformal Coatings says: A conformal coating may have several functions depending on the type of application. The most common are: * Inhibit current leakage and short circuit due to h

Hi Cecil, We using conformal coating in our manufacturing area, we did use to use Humiseal, others have been Bectron and Peters. We recentalt switched all lacquering to Peters, since it is lead free and it is a lot friendly than Humiseal. To answer

fluxer => cleaning (or lack there of) => conformal coating: there is a lack of compatibility. You need to figure-out which is the bad boy. Maybe a good guess is to conformal coat boards at each step in the process and then have them tested. Don't de

We're using the 1B73LOC conformal coating from Humiseal. We've seen some bubbling of the coating. Their tech handbook suggested reducing our oven ramp speed. Does anyone have a good profile for this? They've always pointed me to Nordson, and Nord
