We'd expect that a 0603 in properly cured, in-date code, properly dispensed chip bonder would take 5-8 pounds to push off the board.

Maybe it will sound a little obsolete, but I need to know if there is or where to get a software package to be used with a CAM/ALOT dispenser for solder paste. Is there a dedicated program or any kind of gerber translator out there?

Thanks to all for the great replies. I guess we'll buy a stencil for a few hundred bucks and try this. Anyway, nobody expressed an opinion about the "decoupled" glue dispensing. What do you think about this idea? Thanks again for your help. Best r

Thanks. Unfortunatelly I did not find answer on my question. Dispensing glue generally has much worse output then printing glue. Question remains - how output of printing paste is compared to output of printing glue ?

We have never dispensed adhesive for 0402, but here's your rules of thumb: * Nozzle diameter should be half the desired glue dot diameter. * Minimum of 0.010" gap between the adhesive and pad, both sides. We'd guess that you should be using a 0.3mm

Hopefully you have a dispenser on your machine so that you can add a few large dots of paste to the thermal pad.
