QFN (LPCC) acceptance in Asia

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 20 09:38:56 EDT 2003 | caldon

Hi John- First, I do not have first hand experience so my input is pure theory. This type of package (in Some Cases) has a center grounding bonds and leadless legs ups the difficulty tremendously. With no stand-off from the Balls(or Legs) when the so

BGA soldering

Electronics Forum | Tue Oct 28 17:40:58 EST 2003 | davef

We theorize a secondary [bottom] side BGA can be wave soldered with planning. Issues are: * Keepout between the BGA and one side of the board that is clear of PTH parts requiring wave soldering, so to support the fixture. * Keepout around the BGA. *

HMP soldering

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 22 14:01:31 EDT 2013 | jax

HMP can mean a lot of things, although it is normally used as the generic name for one of the following alloys: Pb93.5 Ag1.5 Sn5 (296°C-301°C) Pb95 Sn5 (308°C-312°C) Pb97.5 Ag1.5 Sn1 (309°C) If you are talking abou

Re: Wave soldering temperature

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 04 15:57:46 EST 1999 | Dave F

I'm with John. Back in the old MIL-2000 days, the pot temperature was 245-275C (475-525F). Now, 240-260C (460-480 F) is more accepted for eutechic (eutechicish) solder. My2 Dave F

Wave soldering equipment??

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 10 11:22:50 EST 2004 | rlackey

Hi, We paid 60K for a 6622C from Vitronics Soltec, no idea about US costs since the dollar went down the swanny. Great machine though. Not all lead free ovens come with Nitrogen capability - it depends whether you specify it or not, and it can ad

LED lifted soldering defect

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 04 04:28:58 EST 2019 | oxygensmd

It seems there isn't right connection between solder and solder-legs. Maybe check that the LEDs get huminidity, have some oxidation on the legs, try different solder paste, check the reflow solder profile. On the photo I can not saw properly reflowe

QFP soldering issue

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 08 15:03:40 EST 2004 | dwzeek

We have an ongoing problem with our QFP144 packages soldering. It has not received much attention until late due to some customer failures. Most of the failures would show up in ESS testing and be repaired. The failure rate is about 2 in 1000 parts f

LGa soldering issues......

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 26 12:06:44 EDT 2009 | clampron

Good Morning, I have been struggling with this part for some time now. I have to agree that whoever designed this part, did not have to manufacture with it. We have advanced to a point where they have a acceptable yield but I believe that will be hi

Reflow soldering through hole parts

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 29 16:12:05 EST 2001 | bill_scholl

I have been told that is is possible to reflow solder through hole components. Can anyone confirm this is being done reliably? If so, what are the required equipment, steps and processes? What is the reliability of the solder joints? Is this a genera
