I am looking for information on reflow temps for a flex board. There is only one 6 pin IC but the board has a 3M double sided tape. Is it possible to reflow without damaging the tape. Any suggestions?

Ditto. We run double sided with no special solder or glue with same profile. We place 0806's and soic's. dave

Wolfgang is correct. Search the fine SMTnet Archives to find information on the component weight versus pad size during adhesiveless double sided reflow. Do not mess with different solder materials.

Scotch supplies it in rolls just like their everyday use transparent tapes. All the major drug store chains carry it. It's in a black and yellow package.

KIC Thermal Profiling also sells the double - sided aluminum tape. They also did a white paper characterizing the material... Good stuff.

Russ, you are right, I've seen briging on 16 mils pitch on OSP (ref under N2),to avoid it needs more care in paste volume. Easier was by 63/37 (Clean) and N2 (on OSP double sided PBA). Regards Gabe

How long are the OSP boards out of there packaging? Is this a double sided smd process or single? Are the boards stored in nitrogen? Sounds like an osp issue to me!

The boards are vacuum packed in quantities of 50 pieces and used within an hour or two of opening; no nitrogen storage. The boards are processed in a double-sided smd process.
