To build on this post, assign a person as just the board loader for a shift and see what the increase in throughput is. Freeing the operator up to deal with line issues, feeder replenishment,...etc has an impact and can be hard to capture and this s

DeanM, if I understood correct, you use fiducial with dimension 0.1 mm and increased it to 0.15 mm. Why use use small fiducials? You don't have free space on your PCBs?

DeanM, thanks for explanation, I will know about this "feature" of some mounters, cause I worked with Samsung, Assembleon and now work with Mirae and I never had a problem with fiducials recogntion with 1 mm diameter.

Gold and Silver finishes are the best for sure. Unfortunately, they can't mix the finish in a single pass. It's a two step process, which raises your cost.

It is possible that there is nickel contamination in the gold. Depending on your plating board vendors put nickel down first. The plating also could be to thin. Dave had a good suggestion in trying to solder the pad with a Iron that will tell a lot.

It's possible that if the nickel on your board was skip plated by your fab that you would get the symptoms that you describe.

Spray fluxing yes but have checked the uniformity by using a fluxometer. Also have put boards through with only flux and preheat. no wave up to see if the carrier is being burnt off. I will look into the skip plating issue. Thanks again

Is anybody using the Argos Systems FVS2 FeederVision Station? It's half the cost of the ASM (Siemens) system, and appears to do more.

When we get a very large board that's arrayed or one I think will be difficult we send a sample board. It helps our stencil manufacturer get it right. So for it has worked for us.
