Chunks, FYI: I don't sell them. I sell the mechanical type from Cencorp. I just know about LPKF's machine. They should be able to give you the info you're looking for.

I've found 08MPF good for 0402's & 0603's, however that was before the blade nozzles were released, and from what I've seen the blades allow you to place a lot closer.

When the fab people cut a V-groove for depaneling, do they use a lubricant on the router or do they cut it dry?

They cut it dry. Most shops use a rotating blade, some use 'skiving' just pushing the PCB past a v shaped blade. Don't know how popular the latter is anymore though.

I think I phrased that poorly. I'm talking about cutting the V-groove into the panel by the fabricator so that it can be depaneled later. Or did you understand me perfectly? :P I ask because your description sounds like the depanelers I've seen us

It's dust contamination. Most of the boards have loose dry dust on them but a few have what looks like a dried slurry. Either way I'm not impressed. This is the second batch, the first one had obvious *visible* shorts on boards that were alledgedly

Does anyone out there have much experiance with the testronics bench aoi system? We apperently cannot get a demo and are considering the testronics and a mirtec system. Any other systems out there that are in the 25-60k range you would recommend?

Simple, if you can't get a demo (or choose from a huge number of reference sites)walk away with your cash to someone who can help. Also: Yestech & MVP are pretty good.

This is a very competitive market segment. We setup 3 of them side by side at the same time on a demo basis in our facility. Work with them as much as you can, and setup an objective test of their capabilities. Good luck. John S.
