QFN standoff, industry standard

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 28 13:19:14 EDT 2019 | davef

There is no industry standard for BTC stand-off height. "IPC-7093A Design and Assembly Process Implementation for Bottom Termination SMT (BTC) Components" just finished "Final Draft for Industry Review" in December 2018. It mentions stand-off height

There is a japanese company that makes a ultrasonic hand-held stencil cleaner. I demo'd it for a day and it was fantastic! It even cleaned epoxy stencils. Can't recall the price...but it should be much much less than the smart sonic and other "mac

DPMO or DPM based data usage also of interest.

Defect Per Unit (DPU) versus DPMO

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 30 06:58:24 EDT 2007 | ck_the_flip

Alot of QM's and QE's are typically failed Engineers who lack common sense. They don't understand that measuring in DPMO's (versus DPU's) "normalizes" your data for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA's) so that if you have 10 defects on a PCBA t

| Dear All, | | We are having a big debate over what is the industry standard in DPPM on the wave sodlering process. is a DPPM of about 800 satisfactory. As per our big bosses it should not be more than 50 DPPM. Is the figure realistic. We are ty

Yield on 0402 SMT Printed Circuit Board Assemblies

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 04 18:54:34 EST 2007 | russ

We use DPMO when talking to customer and yield when trying to figure out how to make more money in the shop. Does that make sense? Russ

Need help on selecting the SMT equipment for small volume

That's an interesting fact Ken. Now I think i've seen every figure out there. Let's see, CPH, DPMO, CPK, and now, hmm, what would this be called, PPPSF (parts placed per square foot). Does anyone have a formula on this to figure out my PPPSF?

Yield levels

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 18 12:33:21 EDT 2002 | slthomas

Not sure if you're trying to improve your defect rate (we use dpmo) or your test yield. The question is what do you do if you're happy with your dpmo levels but not some of your first pass yield numbers because certain boards have more parts. Inspe
