Dear Chris Thank you so much for the prompt reply and it really helps. Do you have any SMT experience for rig-flex boards? Can you share with me about the differences with that of rigid boards? Is there any special precaution needed? When you were d

Is there anyone who knows the yield rate difference for SMT on multi-flex boards and rig-flex boards ? Basically, I think the yield rate should be higher for rig-flex than multi-flex due to the poor dimensional stability of polyimide, since multi-fle

We follow IPC-2221 recommendations for Au and don't have a problem as long as the Ni is under 150 microinches. This ensures a consistent process for us.Also we do plasma clean after SMt and prior to wirebond. That makes a big difference. Rob

Hi Christina, What would you be basing the yields off of? Is it solder defect, component placement, etc....? I have worked for a flex house for quite a few years. You are right. The Polyimide is very dimentionally unstable. (even more so on humid da

First, we agree with Loco that your QFP is nonwetting, rather than dewetting. Your sceen-shots look like ol' timey SnPb paste recipes. Turn-up the heaterometer dial. Second, on nitrogen: * We kinda think your O2 needs to be around 100ppm with 99.99%

Thanks Chris. As I was writing my last message our mailperson dropped off the latest issue of Circuit Assembly. It has an article on mixing SMT and COB on the same board. The author recommends as a compromise 10-20 micro inches of gold over 70-100 of
