What temperatures did you read on the QFP component leads during reflow soldering?

The parts are from 2000-2004. The temperature at the leads are between 215-220. When the part is removed from the board, some of the leads are nice and shiny and some have dewetting, so I dont think it is a temperature issue.

How thick is the stencil? Also what type of paste? We have a nice little microscope that has gradients on the lens so we can measure whether an aperture is 8 thou or not. Almost always it is but then we buy from a couple of good stencil suppliers.

Yes, I use Indium Mesh 3. I have a re-cut stencil on the way. Thanks for the input!

Solder mask between pads in case of fine-pitched device footprint may not be a practical solution to implement. Cheers !!!

Dear all, Is there anybody who has got experience about the hollow jet wave soldering system? Is it usefull for SMD devices such as fine pitch components and Can it solder components which are on thick PCB's? Thanks.

You might try assembly carrier tape such as Tacsil on your fixtures. Beware - arrays are very diffult to run in SMT flex unless you have no fine pitch.

On our Fuji NXT and AIM machines I never program local fids...we place down to 16 mil fine pitch and BGA, uBGA, multirow QFNs with no placement issues. Most boards are panelized in an array and we have corner fids added to the rails. Regards, Mi

Hi Bruce It will be using a hot air knife for solder. Meanwhile, there are many bridging at fine pitch socket pin after wave. It isn't easy to tuoch up. So, consider the air knife can help a bit. Thanks
