Check your exhaust points and cooling zones. Cooling zones should have filters that need to be cleaned and it is most probably where your problem comes from. In front(if you have two exhaust pipes) you might need a filter change as well.

For some reasons, we need to wash our BGA boards in ultrasonic washer in order to clean all flux residue under BGA. We use Ultrasonic cleaner with 40 KHz. Should we or shouldn't we do that. Pros and Cons ? Any idea appreciated.

Hi, I must change our current terrible foam fluxer unit used in Seho wave to a spray type to let able to use water soluble flux. Does anybody have recommendation for solution that won't break the bank? BR:Andras

Hi, We are currently using Alfa EF-2210, that is a good water based flux for spraying, but can't be used with foam fluxer (it is pain to use with foaming - builds extensive foam) BR:andras

Bought spray fluxer unit extension to our machine ;) AFAIK water based fluxes are not available for foam, and we didn't wanted to move toward the alcohol based ones because of theirs multiple drawbacks

Do you mean in a reflow oven or wave solder? if so check your exhaust blower, make sure its still drawing. if not the flux/dust that builds up on the exhaust pipes may be falling into the machine.

Dear davef, but this LED is skip component, that's a blank footprint and one of its pad is badly wetted...this is the reason for my thinking about contamination. Do you mean different solder paste with more aggressive flux?

+paste was not stored properly Paste doesn't have enough flux and is more sticky than usual. Could be a lot code related or a purchase order related. I wold order a new jar and try immediately.

Hi Prem, We used to place millions of Nickel battery tabs using Cobar paste. We found it particularly aggressive. Just contact your local Cobar distributor and ask them for samples of their most aggressive fluxed paste. Kind regards, Rob.

and here.... https://smtnet.com/Forums/index.cfm?fuseaction=view_thread&CFApp=1&Thread_ID=9389Message37375 Which was in the days of leaded, but the ROHS paste had the same flux formulation.
