what did you reprofile to ? did you increase the peak reflow temperature ? can you tell form what to where ? I bet your vendor told you process guys that it was " drop in" for a tin leaded plated part.

Hi could be relaited to the thermal mass of the screw/bolt. if there is no intermatalic formed and the solder just picks off id say this is likely. the hot wave hits the cold screw and cools the solder enought to leave some behind??

the copper forms intermetallics with tin to get Cu3Sn and Cu6Sn5. thus intermetallics formation consumes Cu and depends upon the cooling rate, faster the cooling rate, lesser the intermetallic formation

I am looking for an alternate support system actually. We are currently using grid-lok supports and previously, we were using form flex. Both are very maintenance intensive. Any literature available on these gel flexes?

Depends on what you're kind of thru-hole you're placing. Cutting, forming and placing TO-220s are a lot different than VCD components. Can't just slap any ol' name out der!

Your product may not no-clean compatible. "No Clean" must not be confused with "no need to clean". Your end application, operating environment and circuit operation (form-for-function) will dictate your cleaning requirements.

hi, we tried to introduce form-flex a few years back and it caused more problems than it fixed. Switched back to pins and no problems. It might have improved since but I would be reluctant to get them again unless I was given a 6 month trial!! aj

Your best bet would be to browse through you current solder suppliers catalog and pick your alloy. Most of them have a list of alloys and their melting points as well as what form they can be supplied in.

I've had problems with the online form, but their phone support is great. I usually get a call back within an hour if I can't get someone on the phone immediately. -OtheRuss

Good Morning, I have also had problems with the Web forms but I have never had any problems with phone service. They have always got back to me in a reasonable amount of time if they were not available when I called. Chris
