Never used U shapes for 0603 but have used them for MELF pkg. Never had a problem printing as long as area ratio is acceptable. So just out of curiosity, why U shape for 0603? Russ

Sounds like someone before you was dealing with tombstoning components. We have had greater success with triangular paeratures for 0603 and 0402 footprints. Granted the pad will not be wetted completly but IPC requirements are maintained.

We use itty bitty drill bits in these cases. You can get one from your PCB supplier. Be careful they break easy. Russ

James, Could I get some contact info for you to call you about this? There is a solution for clean BGA's that needs to be discussed one on one versus here in the forum. mkehoe@sipad.net 770-475-4576

James: So, why don't you clean your no-clean? At least then you stand a chance of doing class 2 and class 3 work.

Good note about in Line washers. Can you tell me a little more about the Wave machines, may be what models did you worked on, and what you liked or did not like about them. Thanks, Tim

Check with your state EPA on disposal of lead contaminated equipment. Or, your local Sanford & Son can handle it.

Anybody using Smart Sonic model 6000 stencil cleaner? We're looking to try one out on the production floor, but I figured I'd see if any one was using it and had horror stories or rave reviews.

Paul We don't like to mix metals on press fits. Yano, we do gold on gold or solder on solder, but we don't mix metals [except with imm silver / tin] to avoid electrochemical corrosion. Is that bad information or does AMP think that's not a problem

Dave, I raised this concern also. AMP claims that the tight fit in the wipe zone creates an airless joint that will not corrode despite the dissimiliar metals. DDave, thanks for the link.
