UIC GSM and EPC5 <-> EPC9

Does anybody know is EPC9 plug-compatible with EPC5? I got one brand new EPC9, but can't bring USOS up. OS/2 boots, but then hangs-up during USOS initialization. I've browsed UIC archives, but can't find any relevant document, even if there exist one

When you say Fine Pitch is this .5mm or is it smaller? I wonder what problems they experienced with HASL, the only problem I recall hearing was the surface was not flat. When applying paste with a stencil I can not see how the flatness is an issue.
