Bill, ENIAC, Thank you for your input. I'll do some research on the items you suggested and give it a try. The idea of having a steal nozzle that is tinned is defintely new to me, so I will check into that, as well as the brushes. Thank you guys.

We've only used/seen the manual splicer. However our operators can splice a part in 30-45 seconds. What Panasonic models do you use? The CM/NPM's give you plenty of warning that a splice is needed so the machine doesn't stop.

after checking two computers, did not find it. However after using "google" found it in a flash. (less than 0.22 seconds) using a spreadsheet. how about this for resistor & capacitors with 4mm pitch, all measurements in millimeters. cell A1 "input

To give a better idea of how to calculate the amount of parts on a reel, one might like to survey the attached diagram it is very simple, the extra parts per layer follow a linear fashion.

argh! the 6 ends of the resistors soldered to another though hole part to give the pcb track mechanical strength or are they just soldered to a remote pad, so if the resistors are knocked it has the possibly of ripping the track from the pcb.
