If the board is HASL you may always have trouble. Try to reduce the amount of paste by either reducing aperture size of stencil thickness. Jerry

Take a look at the boards, too. Could the HASL be different (in particular a domed or convex cross section) than what you're used to seeing? Is your printer actually working properly?

That would be correct. Some others call it `Head in Pillow'. The BGA balls are 63/37 and the board it's mounting to is HASL.

In the past we have used immersion tin as an alternative for HASL. Our biggest problem was shelf life. The tin oxidized very rapidly. We switched to immersion gold and have had great success.

Just another thought, your leaded boards might have been HASL, which for soldering always flows just a little bit better then other finishes.

We have used it and it seems to be fine. I think we have probably run a few thousand boards with it across maybe 6 different assemblies.

Interesting you should ask this what problems are you seeing. Non wetting and blow holes and shallow fillets at all??? Cheers Greg

Is there a difference between SN100, SN100C, and SN100CL?

Bob should answer this but yes there is a diiference, I wonder if you do not need to add the SN100(cu???) to get your alloy correct again, I believe that additional copper must be added on a scheduled basis. Russ
